Steve Jobs

My professional training was initially in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but since then, I have undertaken further training in other therapeutic approaches and extensive professional development courses. I have a strong commitment to ongoing learning.
Every client is unique and diverse, so I take a flexible and integrative approach, tailored to meet your individual needs and preferences.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Your journey through life is unique and I will support you through this phase.
I am accredited by the BACP. According to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), accreditation recognises the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy. BACP accreditation is the mark of a high-quality professional practitioner. It guarantees a standard of practice accepted for BACP accreditation.
I have considerable experience working with young people of secondary school age, both as a school counsellor and in my private practice. I understand the distinct challenges young people face, including anxiety, relationship issues, academic pressures and identity development. I also have experience working in an additional needs school with neurodiverse young people.
With adults and older adults, I have supported clients through issues such as stress, anxiety, life transitions, bereavement, trauma and managing chronic health conditions. I have also counselled NHS Lanarkshire staff for four years.
Over the years, I have developed a special interest in working with anxiety, trauma, and related emotional difficulties. I understand that these experiences can impact every aspect of a person’s life. My approach is trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on building resilience and increasing self-compassion.
Currently, I am completing advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful technique for addressing trauma and its lasting effects. EMDR can also be used for depression, anxiety, phobias, grief and OCD.

I love spending time with my dogs, walking in remote areas. We spend our free time exploring Scotland in our campervan.
I also love reading and fitness classes, especially Zumba.
I decided to call my practice Cashel Hill Therapy as we planted a tree in memory of my mum on the hill above Cashel Forest, overlooking Loch Lomond. It is a place we visit regularly and it is close to my heart.
